Gunhild A. Stordalen på Instagram: “Honored to be named best dressed 🇳🇴 business woman of the year by @finansavisen_premium, and thanks for featuring one of my rental gowns from @fjong.co 💃🏼👏! Because over the past years, I’ve learned that #fastfood and #fastfashion have lots of scary negatives in common – neither are sustainable for people or planet! Being named the 2nd dirtiest industry after oil & gas, the booming #fashionindustry is a huge challenge, as more people around the world are buying more – but also throwing away more. In fact, more than half of all clothes ends up as landfill and < 1% are being recycled♻️ And just washing our clothes release half a million tonnes of plastic microfibers in the oceans every year…ultimately ending up in our food..! 😱 The solution is not only about producing more sustainble fabrics - we also need to radically re-think the business models, and go back to what used to be the norm (and which my Mom still practice👏) i.e. buy fewer but better quality clothes, and then reuse-recyle-redesign - and give away or borrow. Inspired by amazing efforts that makes this easy and fun - like the Norwegian rental platform @fjong.co - I have set a goal for myself that by end of 2018, I will rent out half my wardrobe at Fjong, and rent at least every second special occasion outfit. And with the world’s most progressive climate policy, aiming to be carbon-neutral by 2045, it’s probably no surprise that the 🇸🇪 government now wants to take on #food as well – as food is not only 1/3 of the climate solutions, but comes with lots of co-benefits – for 👫&🌍! Honored & excited to launch the partnership with the Swedish government in Stockholm yesterday, and start the planning of the 5th annual EAT Stockholm Food Forum. And with a global champion for saving the #oceans, Deputy Prime Minister @isabellalovin in charge, sustainable #aquaculture and the #blueeconomy will be high up on the agenda – in June and onwards!
